Wet Leg – davina mccall

Wet Leg unveils ‘davina mccall’, a soft meditation on devotion that transforms the unlikeliest reference points. The third offering from their July 11th album ‘moisturizer’ finds the Isle of Wight duo setting aside their signature eye-rolling attitude for genuine romantic earnestness, crafting what they describe as “a song about pure, unadulterated devotion.”

The track showcases the band’s collaborative process. Hester Chambers initiated the musical foundation alongside bassist Ellis Durand, while Rhian Teasdale developed the lyrics and melody. This creates a gentle ballad miming the feeling when new-relationship butterflies fade and comfortable devotion takes hold. Chambers’ steady guitar groove anchors Teasdale’s surprisingly sincere vocals as she promises to be someone’s “Davina,” referencing the beloved Big Brother host’s role as guardian and guide.

Chris Hopewell’s stop-motion video features the band as clay figures on a whimsical quest to recover a stolen feather from a goblin, connecting thematically to their ‘CPR’ visual while maintaining their playful aesthetic. The track proves that beneath Wet Leg’s satirical exterior lies genuine emotional range, suggesting ‘moisturizer’ might offer their most artistic statement yet.
